How do you make up your complexion?

Complexion make-up is the essential step for a successful look. Which foundation should you choose? How to apply it? How to subtly correct small flaws? From the right gestures to the choice of the right tools, we’re here to guide you step by step.

Complexion make-up: moisturising base

The first step, before even thinking about applying make-up, is to moisturise your skin. Your night care has been absorbed, so moisturising your skin in the morning will give it new comfort. This is an essential step. Apply a moisturising, nourishing, mattifying or smoothing cream every day depending on your skin type. Good moisturising simply allows your make-up to apply better and last longer throughout the day: concealers and foundations glide on better and powder applies more evenly.

Complexion make-up: neutralise small defects

It's not always easy to admit it, but we all have little flaws that make life impossible. Pimples, wrinkles, dark circles, redness... So many marks that are easy to hide.

But before even talking about foundation, to neutralise these marks, you should apply a localised corrector stick, the shade of which will vary according to the colour of the imperfection you wish to camouflage.

A green corrector stick to hide redness, a yellow stick to fight blue or purplish marks (such as varicose veins, bruises, etc.), or a coral stick to reduce brown spots.

Even out your complexion

For a flawless complexion, decide on the texture of your foundation according to your skin type and its level of unevenness.

  • If your imperfections are more pronounced, opt for a high coverage foundation such as a compact foundation cream that will even out your skin in a sheer way.
  • If they are more moderate, choose a fluid foundation with a light texture for a natural make-up effect.
  • Finally, if your blemishes are mild, a tinted moisturiser or a tinted sunscreen may be just the thing.

To make the right choice and apply your foundation correctly, follow our step-by-step advice.

Enhance your complexion

To set your make-up and mattify your skin, apply the Translucent or Brightening Mosaic Powder all over the face. You can also apply the Brightening Mosaic Powder locally on all the areas you wish to illuminate.

And for a "healthy glow" effect, sculpt your face with the Healthy Glow or Sun Mosaic Powder. Better than a blush, they allow you to enhance or warm up the complexion in a single step.

Follow all our tips on how to choose and apply your powder.

Opt for contouring

Brighten up your complexion, sculpt your face... Have you ever heard of contouring? This make-up technique makes it possible to refine certain areas of the face or to highlight them thanks to a play of light and shadow. Is your face too square? Do you think your nose is too wide? You can correct this without resorting to surgery. Once you've evened out your skin tone, follow our tips for easily re-shaping those features.

OUR ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Complexion make-up: we’re here to help you sort fact from fiction

Absolutely. Even if you apply foundation, day cream is still one of the routines you should stick to. This will moisturise your face and allow your make-up to be more luminous.

Don’t do it. Choosing a darker foundation will not make you look "tan". On the other hand, it may age you and the difference in colour between your face and your neck will draw the eye right away. If you want a nice, sun-kissed complexion, use a foundation in a shade that matches your skin tone and bronze the face with a sun mosaic powder.

This is false. The advantage of using a corrector stick as a first step is that you can then use a lighter hand on your complexion and thus guarantee the most natural result possible.
