How do you apply make-up to oily skin?
If your skin is shiny and you need to touch up your make-up several times a day, there's no doubt about it: your skin is hyperseborrheic. In other words: oily. Your objective is to mattify it so that your make-up lasts all day. Follow the guide!
Oily skin: cleanse and moisturise
Uneven skin texture, wide pores, shiny skin... This is how oily skin is characterised. It produces excess sebum and this can have difficulty draining, resulting in an oily appearance of the epidermis. To avoid it, make-up removal is not optional. It should be done morning and evening, with micellar water or a cleansing gel suitable for oily skin. In the morning to remove the sebum produced during the night, and in the evening to remove make-up, impurities and sebum that has built up during the day. What happens if you don't? Acne may make an appearance on your face.
Don't be fooled by appearances: just because your skin is oily doesn't mean it shouldn't be moisturised. Apply a light, non-greasy, non-comedogenic, mattifying day cream to reduce excess oil, moisturise and protect your skin. If you want to tighten your pores and refine your skin texture, don't hesitate to apply a correcting serum beforehand.
Your face is now ready for make-up application.
"I hate the shine. I've tried everything, but I feel like my skin is shiny just a few hours after application. I’d like to find make-up that really mattifies but doesn't dehydrate my skin, especially for my cheeks which are less oily than the T-zone..."
Make-up for oily skin: evening out the complexion
Evening out the complexion: this is the first step to a successful make-up application. There are several options when you have oily skin.
First, tinted BB creams or emulsions. The main advantage: they give you a healthy glow in a single step. They are applied with the fingertips all over the face, not forgetting the neck.
A liquid foundation is ideal if you want to even out your skin tone and hide minor imperfections such as blackheads, enlarged pores or pimples. It can also be applied with the fingertips, or with a sponge if you want to blur enlarged pores (by tapping with the sponge).
Finally, for a perfectly even correction, choose a compact foundation cream with a matte finish. Its coverage and mattifying power guarantees long-lasting make-up with very little product. It is applied with a sponge, smoothing towards the edges of the face for a sheer effect, or by tapping for a more full-coverage result.
How to choose the right foundation
Setting make-up for oily skin
In order to guarantee a long-lasting matte finish, it’s essential to add a touch of powder after applying your make-up.
Oily skin: set your make-up with a sheer finish
The Translucent Mosaic Powder is perfect if you want a mattifying effect and if you're in a hurry: just apply it with a large brush all over your face, and that's it! The powder absorbs the sebum on the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin), so your make-up is set and your skin is totally matte. A little tip in case of skin texture: sweep the brush from the edges to the centre of the face, so it’s less accentuated.

FRIENDLY (AND EXPERT) ADVICE
Your complexion is now flawless. Here's how to enhance the rest of your face.
To finish off your face make-up, you can start by focusing on your eyebrows! They are what give your face its character, so it's important to shape them or fill them in with an eyebrow pencil—blonde or brown depending on your hair colour. You can then move on to your eyes: some of eye pencil along the lower lashes and you’ll kohl-effect eye look. On the upper eyelid, it creates a nice eyeliner effect. For an evening make-up look, you can intensify the line until you obtain a superb smoky effect. A touch of mascara on the lashes and a beautifying balm on the lips, and you're (almost) ready!
The right steps to make up oily skin
One final step is essential to prolong the wear of make-up on oily skin: spraying a fine mist of thermal spring water about twenty centimetres from the face. Simply because the water evaporates and dries the make-up, prolonging its wear and ensuring a matte complexion for longer. One last tip: to prevent acne – which most often appears on oily skin – remember to clean your brushes and sponges after use!
